Holy Cross Convent English High School, Amravati was established in the year 1887. Mother Veronica Pollien and her companions who came from France started the school, mainly to educate the girl children who were the neglected lot. Sister Suzanne Croissard was the first Headmistress. This school which began as a tiny mustard seed has become a huge tree catering to many staff and children irrespective of caste, creed and colour.
The purpose of this institution is to enlighten the young minds for better future and to develop a just and harmonious society through them. It helps the children to nurture and grow to their full capacity. The infrastructure of the institution is well furnished with 18 E-learning class rooms, Science and Maths laboratories, 2 Music rooms, a well equipped Library, 2 Computer labs, and a beautiful and spacious playground with basketball, skating, football, khokho ground, which helps the children to widen their experience and learning which keeps them healthy and fit.
The co-curricular activities like the daily value based assemblies, Speeches, Skits, dances, drawings ,quiz etc. are organised for the all round development of the children. Social visits and charity works are undertaken on regular basis in order to create social awareness and love for the poor. Along with all these activities the academic learning too helps our children in developing confidence, courage, team spirit and values to live as good human beings in future thus living up to the motto of their alma mater “Lighted to Enlighten”. The hall mark of our institution is value based education where each child is free to express themselves and bloom where they are planted so as to be useful citizens of tomorrow.
The Holy Cross Convent English High School, inspired by the great works and life of Mother Claudine Echernier, foundress of the Sisters of the Cross of Chavanod, believes that knowledge based education influences the heart. It enables students to imbibe values of faith, hope, humility, courage, patriotism and truth. We aim towards excellence from a very tender age and try to achieve our goal.
